Ash Dump Provision

Ash Dump-a In Built-In Fireplaces, a popular option is a Flip-Top trap-door in the floor surface. This can simplify the removal of ashes during the usage of the fireplace. You would just push down on a small area of the ash dump, which flips up the larger area of it, similar to some flip-up kitchen garbage cans work. Then ashes could just be pushed toward it, so they fall down through a passageway into a bin or bucket below.

Obviously, such a totally-fireproof passageway and bin must be provided at the time of installation of the fireplace. This option on a JUCA is just a pass-through opening (roughly 4.5 by 9 inches) in the floor castable firebrick. It has a short stub connector underneath the floor surface to connect to a heavy metal or masonry passageway which would then be fabricated on-site.

Ash Dump-b This JUCA option also includes a cast-iron flip-up door assembly which just sets loosely over the opening to cover it during normal operation of the fireplace.
