Screen ChoicesVarious manufacturers offer up to four possible arrangements regarding the mesh screens that are usually behind the glass doors. The logic behind the presence of mesh screens is for the event where a fire would be built with the glass doors opened, and the fire being of a wood species that "pops" a lot. In the event that a small burning piece of wood would pop out toward the room, the mesh would keep it from ever getting to the carpeting or a child. However, such screens have become such "standard" expected features of glass firescreens that most include that provision even when the user might use gas logs or otherwise not actually need it!

On arch-top door sets, this choice is NEVER available! Any vibration would let the two screens to slide down hill and to open unintentionally. In addition, the taller screen necessary near the middle would hit the floor when it got near the side!
